Anand Kumar : "An Architect Who Built IITIAN's"

 Anand Kumar, Have you families with the name....No, Don't worry. You must known about Super 30...Yes the same institute which produce iitian's every year.

    Anand kumar was born on 1st January 1973 in a lower middle class family in Patna, Bihar. His father Rajendra Prasad was a clerk in the postal department of India. His father could not afford private schooling for his children, so Anand has to attend a hindi medium Government school, Where he developed his deep love and interest in mathematics. He completed his secondary  schooling from Patna High School in Patna, Bihar. He done his Graduation in mathematics from B.N college, Patna which comes under the Patna University. During his graduation, Kumar submitted paper's on number theory, Which were published in the Mathematical Spectrum and also sent a letter to the editor of The Mathematical Gazette.

    Anand kumar manege to secured admission to the University of Cambridge, but could not attend because of his father death in 1994 and his financial condition. Kumar would work on mathematics during day time and used to sell papad's in evenings with his mother Jyanti Devi, who had started a business from home, to support their family.Since Patna University library did not had access to foreign journals, Kumar traveled 6 hours train journey to Varanasi on Fridays and study in the center library at the B.H.U and return to Patna on Monday mornings.

Story of Super 30

The year 1992,when his teaching career is all started. Initially Kumar Started his own institute, The Ramanujan School of Mathematics by renting a classroom for 500 a month. Within a spam of one year, His class grew from just 2  student to almost 500 students. Soon he will establish as a well reputed teacher in Patna.

    But his life changing moment comes in the year 2002, when Abhayanand(former D.G.P of Bihar) and Anand Kumar started super 30 with the plan to select 30 talented students from economically impoverished section who could not afford iit coaching. Anand  kumar's mother Jayanti Devi, volunteered to cook for the student while Anand kumar, Abhayanand and other teachers tutored them. The student were also provided study material and lodging for a year free of cost. In last fourteen year, 391 students out of 450 have made to different IIT's of the country. In 2003,when super 30 started its journey, 18 out of 30 students completed. The very next year number jumped to 22. In 2005, It improved further to 26 counting the trend, 28 students made it in 2006 and 2007. However, the 'magic moment' came in 2008, when the result was an astonishing 30 out of 30.super 30 had hit the bull's eye and it continued for next 2 year. At the same Kumar,got the biggest shock when Abhayanand leaves the institute by saying "experiment is over".

    It was march 2009, he comes into the limelight and globally recognized when Discovery channel broadcast a one-hour program on Super 30 and half a page was devoted to kumar in The New York Times. Kumar has been also featured in programmes by  the BBC. He spoke about his experiences at various global level like IIM, Ahmadabad, numbers of IITs, University of British Colombia, Tokyo University, Stanford University e.t.c. Time magazine include Super 30 in the list of Best of Asia 2010. He was awarded by S.Ramanujan Award in 2010.

Recognition by the U.S President 

    Super 30 and Anand kumar get praise from many country and from there leader. But one of his biggest achievement was Super 30 received praise from U.S President Barack Obhama's special envoy, Rashad Hussain, Who termed it the "Best" institute in the country, Kumar was given the top award of Bihar Government, "Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Shiksha Puraskar", in November 2010. Anand Kumar was awarded "Rashtriya Bal Kalyan Award" by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.

Criticism

With the success criticism comes too. He has an allegation that he has select only those students who comes from the lower cast so they can qualify easily. It was also alleged that Kumar claimed more numbers of his students cracking the IIT-JEE entrance exam, contrary to the real number. A PIL in Patna High Court also accused him og claiming students from other institutes as his own.

    A movie "super 30" is also made on the life of Anand Kumar where Hrithik Roshan played the role of Anand Kumar.
